Pool Cleaning – Maintenance – Service

The Objective:

A flexible solution to maintaining your pool. Depending on circumstances a different approach is required.

The result is to deliver a healthy - hygienic – good looking environment which is pleasant to use.

A pool is an organic environment that needs careful planned consideration. The pool plant room is the heart of this environment and must be maintained in good order if the pool is to be reliable.

The economy of the pool operation is a high priority. Not only cost of the cleaning process, but also its capitol investment program on going.

The chemical solution that is adopted is based on proven science, that uses professional testing procedures. Accurate knowledge allows the correct dispensing of chemicals which creates the perfect controlled environment. Chemical balance being dependant upon weather, sunlight, surrounding environment, human and pet usage.

Use of the correct chemicals in balanced water prevents – stinging eyes – irritable skin – bleaching of swim wear – reduces wear on plant room machines – prevents collapsing of pipework between pool and plant room.

Planned packages:

The package that suits each pool owner best is based upon the pool owners own input and requirements – and supported by scientific fact. Can’t find the one that suits you best? Then a discussion will find your solution.

Full Operating – Manual Service:

  • Vacuum pool base
  • Sweep pool walls
  • Net away surface debris
  • Empty skimmer baskets
  • Empty pump pre-filter basket
  • Backwash (dependant upon filter pressure and need)

Chemical Testing:

  • FAS/DPD chlorine analysis
  • Turbidity CYA analysis
  • Langelier saturation index analysis (calcium, bicarbonates, CYA, PH, temp).
  • Borax alkalinity control (where applicable)
  • Phosphate testing
  • Copper testing

Chemical Dispensing:

  • Chlorine level to be a maximum safe level above the CYA base demand, added manually, (10ppm).
  • CYA maintained to 50ppm.
  • Saturation balance adjusted starting with the hardness as priority.
  • Control phosphates to less than 100ppm
  • Borax to 50ppm (where applicable)
  • Copper no more than 0.5ppm

Chlorine is the principle disinfectant; its density is critical in controlling algae and bacteria. The more frequently it is tested and dispensed the better.

CYA is the stabiliser that helps prevent sunlight absorption, but is a balance, its level must not exceed the stated amount. Too high a concentration causes “over stabilisation” greatly reducing chlorine efficiency, leading to unhealthy pool water.

The saturation index is the environment that enables the water to dissolve solids and allow chlorine to function efficiently

Frequency of service visits:

  • Principally based on chlorine consumption. The maximum safe level is 10ppm (over CYA based demand).
  • Appearance based.
  • Chlorine consumption increases with greater sunlight hours, water temperature, environmental contamination & usage. (Holiday rental properties can demand daily visits during periods of heavy use – see Automated service to overcome this problem).
  • A specific estimate is provided upon consultation.

Full Operating – Automated – The best economic healthy solution

The same service as above, the difference being chlorine is added at least twice daily directly from the plant room.

Unique Advantages:

  • Even better Hygiene
  • Further reduction of chlorine bleaching levels.
  • Even better maintenance of the pools hydraulics
  • Better maintains the condition of tiles and grout.
  • Lower levels of chlorine, but always stable and balanced over the base level to meet consumption demand.
  • Overall reduction in operating cost – reduces frequency of visits.
  • Reduced risk of chlorine demand developing.
  • Much better control of phosphates.
  • Much less negative effect on the saturation index balance.
  • Used with Ultra Violet eliminates all infection possibilities, to provide ultimate hygiene balance.

Who should use this service?

  • Holiday Rentals
  • Community Pools
  • Any owner with any form of skin complaint where lower chlorine levels are required
  • All pools where hygiene is important
  • Pools frequently used by young children
  • Pools used by pets
  • Pools where owners are absent
  • Those looking for economical practical solutions
  • Anyone replacing a salt machine. This does the same job at a fraction of the cost without expensive maintenance
  • Any pool with a heat pump (which demands low accurate chlorine control always)
  • Owners who maintain their own pools who do not want to handle corrosive chemicals

Support Services:

  • The full chemical analysis with a planned prescription of chemicals to be used
  • Ad hoc cleaning as and when required
  • Full instruction as to how to use the plant room
  • Supply of chemicals, cleaning equipment, cleaning robots to suit
  • Installation and calibration of automated dispensers
  • Installation and maintenance of all plant room machines

Clearing up “Green Pools”

There is nothing worse than finding your pool has gone green. Don’t panic algae is the oldest plant on the planet, controlling it is a process, removing it a calculated procedure.

Depending on how bad the outbreak it can be resolved very quickly.

The initial testing:

  • Full chemical analysis of the saturation index
  • Establish the CYA chlorine base demand
  • Establish the phosphate level
  • Establish the Copper level

The treatment:

  • Adjust the saturation index towards the negative end of the scale
  • Use of chlorine raised above the CYA level to the level that kills algae - the chlorine will be used up rapidly as it goes to work, the level needs to be maintained per day until the pool is blue
  • Without Borates the saturation index PH level is likely to “swing” especially if the water hardness is weak. Consider a borax upgrade once the green issue is resolved
  • Use of a phosphate starver if required
  • Use of copper to a safe level if saturation index level is correct
